Active Duty with PCS orders may make FamCamp reservations 45 days out. All others may make reservations 30 days out.

OCTOBER – MAY: We are now offering Off-Season Parking at Fam Camp for unwinterized campers and RVs. Cost is $100 per month. Vehicles must be unoccupied, electric only.

We are happy to refund your reservation in full with 48 hours’ notice. ABSOLUTELY no reservation changes will be accepted. You will have to cancel completely and call back 30 days out for a new reservation.

Please note ALL rates DOUBLE during Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Just a reminder, this is a US Military Installation and you must ensure you have base access BEFORE making a reservation. 

FamCamp is usually at capacity for most of June and July. We are happy to refund your reservation in full with 48 hours’ notice. We take reservations 30 days out. This applies to reservation changes also. PCSing families please call Outdoor Recreation at (307) 773-3874.

Reservations may be changed one time as long as you call 48 hours ahead of time for a full refund. You may not make more than one reservation change. For additional information, please call (307) 773-3874.

We take FamCamp reservations 30 days out.

Active Duty PCSing have priority and may make reservations 60 days out.

Payment is due in full at the time of reservation.

We always have plenty of overflow sites available.

Fees for all reservations will double during Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Due to our extremely high volume of calls, you may find Facebook messaging useful.

Please do NOT park in ANY site until you have checked with the Office. Temporary parking is in the OVERFLOW AREA.

Honorably discharged veterans with 100 percent service-connected disability and involuntarily separated service members under the Transition Assistance Management Program are authorized to use the FamCamp; HOWEVER it is the responsibility of the customer to work with Security Forces to ensure they have access to the Base. Outdoor Recreation will NOT sponsor customers onto the installation.

The FT. D.A. Russell Family Campground

Office is located in the new hospitality Center on the northeast side of the camp. Enjoy modern conveniences such as handicap accessible restrooms and complete laundry facilities. The traditional red brick closely resembles many of the century-old buildings located throughout the base.

Reservations and Fees

FamCamp is open year-around and the office is staffed from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day, with limited services available prior to and after those dates, weather permitting. The campground features 40 full hook-up sites with 30 and 50 amp service; 10 tent sites; and 75 spaces for over flow or dry camping; and a seasonal dump station. Host building amenities include staff office, lounge area, laundry, showers, restrooms, and Wifi internet service. Reservations are accepted up to 30 days in advance with a credit card deposit. Cancellations with less than 48-hours notice will forfeit reservation fee. For more information, call FamCamp at (307) 773-3874.

  • Overflow/Dry Camping (Anytime) – $15/night

  • Non Campers Dump Station – $10

We do not take reservations for Tent or Overflow/Dry Camping

The Seasons

Peak season is mid-May through Labor Day. Ft. D.A. Russell Family Campground is winterized by mid-September. Electrical hookups are available after that time but water and sewer are not.
