Family Child Care at 7105 Randall Ave. offers an excellent alternative of child care for parents who would like their children cared for in a home setting. Care is provided in military housing as well as off base. Caregivers, who are licensed by the 90 MSG commander must meet strict Air Force requirements. They must complete a five day orientation training class prior to licensing. Training includes CPR and First Aid certification, complete 15 Air Force standardized training modules, 24 hours of annual training and pass a comprehensive background check which includes family members.  FCC providers complete a monthly 17 page self assessment that ensures the safety, health and well-being of your child or children as well as receive monthly unannounced visits from the FCC Manager.  Providers offer daily activities that promote social, self, creative, physical and cognitive development.  Your child or children will receive individualized attention in a small group setting that is warm, caring, nurturing and educational.  Referral lists for in-home providers may be obtained from a variety of agencies on base such as FCC and the CDC.

FCC also offers Extended Duty Care, Missile Duty Care, Return Home Care, Air Force Aid PCS Care, Volunteer Care and serves as back-up for the Air Force Aid Program “Give Parents a Break”.

Family Child Care Class
The next class is October 18 – 22, 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Another class will be held in January. If you are affiliated with the base, you may also become a provider if you live off base. All licensing requirements apply. The FCC Program recruits providers to provide care for the Expanded Child Care Programs. These individuals are given priority for licensing/affiliation, if there is a waiting list for
training and approval. FCC Program recruits providers to care for children
with special needs including children with asthma, allergies, cerebral palsy, physical impairments, etc.

Parent Advisory Board Meetings

Parent Advisory Board meetings are held quarterly. The next meeting will be October 19 at the Youth Center. Meetings are 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and a light lunch will be provided. All parents of CDC, Youth Center and Family Child Care are invited to attend. This offers parents a way to become involved in their child’s program, give ideas and support to increase quality.

Family Child Care Subsidy Program

Interested in Becoming a Family Child Care Provider?

Prospective Family Child Care providers submit AF Form 1928, Family Child Care License Application and complete pre-licensing requirements and orientation. Next class is October 18 – 22. Call 773-3317 for more information.

Unlicensed Child Care

Base housing residents should be aware of the Air Force requirements for conducting childcare in government housing. Anyone caring for children for more than 10 hours a week may be in violation of Air Force Instruction 34-276. Individuals who are not approved family childcare providers cannot advertise in base publications or on base bulletin boards. The Mission Support Group may revoke the housing privileges of individuals who provide care but refuse to become licensed or who continue to provide care after their license has been suspended or revoked. Shift and Evening Care

The Family Child Care program is in need of individuals to provide care during swing and evening shifts. Individuals interested in providing care are given priority in licensing. Anyone interested should call the Family Child Care office.

Family Child Care for Volunteers

The Family Child Care office in coordination with the Air Force Aid Society offers the Family Child Care for Volunteers program. Family members that volunteer may be eligible for up 16 hours of free childcare. Please contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 773-5899 or the Family Child Care office at 773-3317.

FCC License Requirements

Interested individuals will:

1. Complete a FCC license application.
2. Provider and household members must have background agency screenings.
3. Attend four daytime training sessions.
4. Provide evidence of a negative tuberculin skin test and/or chest X-ray for self and all household members over twelve months of age (update every two years)
5. Provide name of another licensed provider available to provide backup support in emergencies. Spouses on active duty do not qualify as backup.
6. Obtain Liability Insurance to insure your small business.
7. Become CPR and first aid certified.
8. Upon completion of agency screenings, home inspection will be conducted.

Referral lists for in-home providers may be obtained from a variety of agencies on base such as the Family Child Care office, Child Development Center, Lodging, Civilian Personnel Office or Community Support Center.

Free Child Care for PSCing Families

A new program to benefit family stress from a PCS move has been made available through the Air Force Aid Society and Family Child Care. AFAS will pay up to 20 hours of child care (per child) in certified FCC homes on base. Families may receive a certificate when departing and arriving at F.E. Warren AFB.

Families with PCS orders are eligible to receive a Child Care for PCS Certificate from the Family Support Center for use within 60 days of departure or arrival. The program is open to all ranks who may not be able to afford the additional expense of child care at a time when finances are already strained.

Missile Duty Care Program

The Missile Duty Care Program is designed to assist both single and dual military families who need childcare when they are required to work on the missile site. The program provides childcare that is more accessible to military members as they perform their mission during their trip out to the field. It is designed to accommodate longer work hours, evenings, and weekends. This program is a special contract and expense to the military family.

Extended Duty Child Care Program

Extended Duty Child Care Program is designed for on base mission related duty, extended duty hours, temporary shift changes, rapid mobilization, and deployment. The program provides more assessable childcare as the military family performs their mission during contingency of high OPS, tempo operation, and/or experiencing a temporary shift change. This is a special contracted position and no expense to the military family.

Reunion Child Care Program

Reunion Child Care Program is designed for active duty personnel returning home. 16 Hours of childcare per child under the age of 12 is provided through the Extended Duty and Missile Duty program. Placement depends on availability of hours. The care must be used within 30 days. This program is paid by special contract and is no expense to the military family.
