For those seeking physical conditioning opportunities, there are two fitness centers on base. The main fitness center – Freedom Hall includes the 90th MDG’s Health and Wellness Center. Together with the HAWC, the center provides a variety of programs for physical fitness, social interaction, personal training, and self-improvement. The base also has Independence Hall.

Located at 6000 N. Shriever Rd, near the Child Development Center, Freedom Hall Fitness Center is well equipped and staffed for individualized and group sporting activities including basketball, volleyball, and racquetball courts. A weight room offers the opportunity for individual conditioning with free weights, Star Trac steppers and cycles, Star Trac treadmills, recumbent bikes, Strive weight training equipment, Stairmasters, and rowers.

For parents, Freedom Hall has an exclusive exercise room for you and your child. A dry sauna is located in each locker room of Freedom Hall. Around the base, there are three tennis courts, three softball fields, three multi-purpose fields, a 1.3 mile track, as well as longer route maps for walking, jogging, and biking. Intramural sports include flag football, softball, basketball, bowling, golf and volleyball. See your squadron sports representative for any questions regarding intramural sports.

Self directed incentive programs are offered to add fun and motivation to your workouts. These programs include Bike Across Africa, Walk Across America, Hike through the Peruvian Andes Mountains (cross training), the King Kong Club (Stairstepper), King Kong II Mount Everest, bench pressing and the Running Club.

Independence Hall is located at 6711 10th Cavalry. It is a fully equipped field house appealing to group or individual fitness workouts. It hosts a 20 station Medex circuit, free weights, LifeFitness, Woodway treadmills, recumbent bikes, Stairmasters, LifeFitness cross-trainers, Life rowers, a 1/10 mile running track, and an aerobics room.

Free aerobics, yoga and pilate classes are offered at Independence Hall and free spinning classes are conducted at Freedom Hall at various times throughout the week. Visit one of our facilities for a current schedule.

Families! Play in the Family Racquetball Tournament Sept. 11, 10 a.m. at Freedom Hall Fitness Center. Sign up deadline is Sept. 8.

Wallyball Tournament
A Wallyball Tournament is Sept. 18 at Freedom Hall, 10 a.m. Sign up deadline is Sept. 15.

Benchpress Competition
A Bench Press Competition is Sept. 20, 5:30 p.m. at Freedom Hall Fitness Center. Sign up deadline is Sept. 16.

PT Exercise

For your convenience, the south side of Independence Hall (Indoor Track) has been reorganized and is now open to accommodate unit PT/group exercise sessions. The area can comfortably accommodate approximately 20 personnel. Groups as well as individuals are also welcome to take advantage of the free spinning and aerobics classes provided by certified instructors and offered in Freedom and Independence Halls.

Parent and Child Exercise Area at Freedom Hall

This exercise room is open to parents to use while watching their own children in a space provided for children. It is equipped with a treadmill, cross trainer, recumbent bike, stepper/climber, weight machine and mats. The children’s area has a TV/VCR/DVD player and soft toys. Parent are asked to sign in at the front desk and respect the rules of use.
