Outdoor Recreation provides rental equipment, discounted ski tickets and base fishing permits, paintball, an Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP), two base pavilions – one at Fam Camp and on Lake Pearson (can be used year round),  recreational vehicle storage areas, as well as a 125 site FAMCAMP facility.

Equipment rentals include hundreds of items for your use from fishing boats, canoes, campers, super cookers, tents, fishing rods, mountain bikes, metal detectors to high performance snow skis, snowboards, snowblades and two new jump houses.

Outdoor Recreation carries discounted ski lift tickets for almost every ski area within a 300 mile range saving the military skier 10 – 50% off resort prices. Season passes are available at excellent rates for military ID card holders and their dependents.

F.E. Warren is a launch point to outrageous outdoor adventure country. Outdoor Adventure Programs encompass an array of thrilling activities throughout the year. OAP will take you on breathtaking hikes and camping excursions, pulse-pounding white-water rafting or a scenic canoe floats, you’ll enjoy lazy fishing trips, mountain bike adventures or take a day-trip with your family to Water World and Elitch Gardens Amusment Park in Denver, Colorado. Winter trips will find you on the finest ski resorts in the country whether you are a beginner or expert, skier or rider nothing beats wearing yourself out on the slopes and leaving the driving to the professional OAP staff.

If you are interested in visiting a particular location call to schedule.  In most cases, we can provide you with a discounted group or military rate and a certified driver.

Outdoor Recreation hosts Warren Paintball. The paintball season in Wyoming typically runs from late April to as late as October, weather permitting. The Warren Paintball Field can be reserved as well as paintball markers and equipment up to 30 days in advance.

Fishing on base requires a base permit which is available at Outdoor Recreation with three lakes available for fishing. Centennial Lake, is stocked with large mouth bass, blue gill and crappies and is catch and release, and North and South Pearson Lakes, located just past the Golf Course on Rogers Road, is catch and keep .

FAMCAMP is located on base along Crow Creek. Reservations can be made 30 days in advance by calling (307) 773-3874. A hospitality center houses the camp office, handicap accessible restrooms, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi.

Events and Programming

FEBRUARY

Snowshoe Trip Feb. 4
This 3.5 mile trek in Medicine Bow is for the intermediate level outdoor enthusiast. Beautiful scenery, well marked trails and a peak elevation of 9,975 feet. Trip departs ODR at 8 a.m. and returns at approximately 5 p.m. Cost is $25 and includes transportation, equipment and guide.

Ski Steamboat Feb. 11 for $15
It’s a sweetheart of a deal at Steamboat! $15 covers your lift ticket and transportation. All single Airmen have the first opportunity to sign up by Jan. 27. After that we open the trip to all ranks, grades – military and DoD! Guests of authorized patrons are welcome to attend, but are not entitled to a military discount lift ticket without military or DoD ID card. Bring your own equipment or rent ours for the daily rental rate – skis $16 and boards $18. Seating limited, sign up early!

Ski Snowy Range Feb. 17
No school! Take the kids to Snowy Range Ski Area. Transportation cost is $20 per person and includes ski/board package. Lift tickets are $28 for adults; $25 for teens (13-17); and $18 for kids (6-12). Sign up by early.

Ski Keystone Feb. 25 for $15
Another “nearly-free” ski trip…only $15 gets you a lift ticket and transportation to Keystone Resort in the heart of Colorado Ski Country! All single Airmen have first opportunity to sign up by Feb. 10. After that we open the trip to all ranks, grades – military and DoD! Travel in comfort in a 47-passenger bus equipped with restrooms and television. Guests of authorized patrons are welcome to attend, but are not entitled to a military discount lift ticket without military or DoD ID card. Bring your own equipment or rent ours for daily rental rate – skis $16 and boards $18.

MARCH

Snowshoeing Mar. 3  Surprise destination for a day of snowshoeing! Take in the beauty and grandeur of  a “Secret Location” in theRocky Mountains. This day trip includes traversing trails leading to spectacular views. From beginner to advanced this trip is designed for all nature enthusiasts. Gear and transportation included. Depart Outdoor Recreation at 7 p.m. and return at approximately 6 p.m. Recommendation for personal equipment includes; day back pack, water, layered clothing, ski or board pants, gloves and winter Jacket. For additional recommendations regarding gear and clothing, contact Outdoor Recreation.  Cost is $45 per person.

“Match the Hatch” Fly Tying Class Mar. 17  Our 3-hour instructional class from 9 a.m. to noon will teach you the basics of fly tying and help you create the perfect spring hatch fly. All equipment and professional instruction is included. Class is limited to 6 participants so sign up early to reserve your spot! You will keep the flies that you tie. This class is for all adult & youth fisherman. Cost is $35 per person.

Ladies! Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Molly Brown House Mar. 24 Home of one ofAmerica’s most well know women, American philanthropist, socialite, and activist, Margaret Brown, also known as “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” because she survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic. We’ll tour the legendary figure’sDenvermansion and stop for lunch upon the conclusion of the tour. Trip departs at 8 a.m. and returns at approximately 4 p.m. Cost is $34 per person (cost of lunch not included). Reservation required by Mar.16 by calling ODR at 773-2988.

Ski Snowy Range Ski Area Mar. 31 End the ski season with this last trip to our backyard favorite. Trip departs ODR at 7: a.m. and returns at approximately 6 p.m. Cost is $20 per person and includes ski/board equipment. Tickets $28 for adults; $25 for teens; and $18 for children ages 11 and younger.

Note:  The ability for all trips to go is based on a minimum number of sign-ups. Trips not meeting minimum sign-ups will be cancelled. Trips may also be cancelled when unsafe road/weather conditions exist. Refunds on patron cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to departure will not be honored.

Full Service Ski Shop

Outdoor Recreation has a full service ski shop to get you ready for the upcoming season. Our certified technicians can mount and test ski bindings (Marker, Solomon & Tyrolia) and all snowboard bindings, wax, sharpen, perform base repair and safety checks on all of your equipment.

Winter Sport Equipment & Ski Passes

Outdoor Recreation has a full line of winter rentals from skis, snowboards, snowblades, cross country skis, snowshoes, ice augers and more.  We’re also your source for daily discounted ski lift tickets to Keystone, A-Basin,Winter Park,Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek,Loveland, Eldora, Steamboat and more!

RV Storage, Fishing and Pavilions

RV Storage

ODR manages the on-base RV storage lots at the intersection of Mule Deer and Booker Roads. Storage fees are $20 for back in and $30 for pull through per month. Registration/check-in is completed at the ODR office. Payment is due on the first of each month. A $5 late fee is assessed to each lot after the 10th of the month. Patrons intending to vacate their lot must check out with ODR prior to the beginning of the month to avoid rental fees. In the event the RV storage lot fills, a priority waiting list is available. All stored vehicles must be mobile, insured, licensed and registered.

Base Fishing Permits

All three of the lakes on base are available for fishing. Centennial Lake, located just inside the Gate 1, is catch and release only. North and South Pearson Lakes, located just past the Golf Course on Rogers Road, is catch and keep (restrictions apply). Some areas of Crow Creek require both a base license and a Wyoming State fishing license. Annual permits can be purchased at ODR and are good from January-December of the year registered. A complete brochure of base fishing regulations is also available from ODR. Annual permit fees are:

  • Adult – $10.50
  • Youth (11-17), Senior (60+) and Disabled Vets (30% min) – $7.50
  • Temporary (1-5 days) – $6.50
  • Duplicate – $3.50

Birthday Parties

Make reservations for An Awesome Splat Paintball Party! A high energy, physically active, extreme birthday activity that is not for the faint of heart. Paintball is a seasonal so parties can be scheduled for April thought October only, weather permitting. Participants must be age 11 or older. An adult to child ratio of 1:6 is also necessary. Reservations required at least two weeks in advance. The Play Package includes marker, mask, and filled Co2 tank, for $20 per person. Paint is $60 per case (2,000 balls).

Base Lakes Pavilion

The Base Lake Pavilion is located at South Pearson Lake off Rogers Road and is available for year-around rental. It features a completely enclosed and climate controlled meeting/dining area; ten 6’ tables; 2 outdoor charcoal barbecues; an outdoor playground, volleyball pit and restrooms. The Famcamp Pavilion is located southwest of Ft. D.A. Russell Campground is available when weather is favorable. This pavilion features a covered picnic area, several 6’ tables, restrooms, and situated near an open grassy field, nearby Crow Creek and the base archeological center. Pavilions are rented for a 24-hour period at a cost of $40.

Functions in which alcohol will be present require a 90 MW Alcohol Letter, available from ODR. Please allow at least 7-days prior to event to complete coordination of this letter. A cleaning fee equivalent to a 1-day rental will be assessed to those leaving the facility unclean. All Pavilion rentals must be checked in and checked out with ODR staff.
