The Before and After School and Summer Day Camp Programs offer a variety of social and instructional activities in a state of the art center.  As a National Afterschool Association accredited program, we place the highest priority on each child’s health, safety, social development and academic support  in our School Age program. Children have the opportunity to work with computers, do homework, and participate in organized activities. Youth are offered a chance to explore new places and ideas, develop new skills, build friendships and have fun!

The Youth Programs provide 4-H projects and activities through a University of Wyoming Military 4-H grant. Scrapbooking, cooking, rocketry, skateboarding, and journaling are just a few of the 4-H projects available.

Fit Factor and Fit Family health and fitness activities are available for youth ages 5-18 and families.  WTA Quick Start tennis is offered and instructional classes in Kempo Karate are available.

The Open Recreation programs are designed with the preteen and teenager in mind. Activities such as field trips, parties, dances, games, contests, pool table, ping pong, videogames, open gym, and other activities make this a hit with our youth.

The Boys and Girls Club of America affiliation offers opportunities for exploring new interests; building leadership skills; support for academic success; recognition through Youth of the Year program; fine arts projects; life skills, and service to the community through Torch Club and Keystone Club. Teens are also able to earn money for college through the Youth Employment Skills (YES) program.

The Teen Center, located at 6205 Randall Ave., serves ages 13-18 and/or those currently enrolled in 7th grade.  Activities and special events include movie critics club, karaoke, community service projects, lock-ins, contests, fine arts programs and a pleasant environment for hanging out with friends. Field trips and special camps such as dance, music, and movie making expand the horizons of our teens.

The Youth Sports Program offers a wide array of organized sports activities to develop physical, emotional and social skills in our youth.  The Youth Sports Program includes indoor soccer, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, teeball, tennis, golf and flag football.  Youth ages 5-18 can experience the enjoyment and development that participation in the sports program offers.  The First Steps basketball and soccer programs provide an opportunity for parents to participate with their children 5-6 years old. All coaches are trained and certified by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association.  Our unique P.E. class for Homeschooled youth meets the district Physical Education requirement.

As a benefactor of the Combined Federal Campaign and United Way of Cheyenne, Youth Programs strive to offer the best in leisure time activities for family members.  Parent participation is always welcome and encouraged.

General Youth Sports Information

Participation has many benefits for children. Being involved in sports creates opportunities for learning both physical and social skills. Children can also learn a number of moral skills including the values of treating their peers with respect and understanding differences. Life-long skills such as discipline, perseverance and teamwork are taught by the Youth Sports Director and volunteer coaches to help children develop a sense of self-worth, help them set personal goals and help them understand their abilities.

Training and certification of volunteer coaches by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association are provided and funded by the program. They receive the tools, resources and equipment necessary to offer a quality experience for young athletes.

The Youth Sports Director provides the best possible environment for children through an extensive screening process, a rigorous training agenda and hands-on support through continuous observation and evaluation of the program.
